An earthquake is a sudden shaking or trembling of the Earth's surface, caused by the movement of the Earth's tectonic plates. the rocks break and move suddenly, sending waves of energy through the ground, which we feel as an earthquake.

Earthquakes can range in severity from small tremors that are barely felt to catastrophic events that can cause widespread damage and loss of life.

In areas prone to earthquakes, it's important to be prepared for the possibility of one occurring. This includes having an emergency plan in place, storing emergency supplies, and knowing what to do during and after an earthquake.
